Feb 2024: Eventually, everything connects

This time last year in February, I was at Wendy's house and we were singing sad cantopop love karaoke songs. Both of us were in hopeless situationships. But this year, I'm so happy for both of us, finally finding our Mr Right.

Dating is a brutal game and it can be an absolute shitshow. My best friend Amy has always told me "Love will happen when you least expect it". Very cliche. I was not convinced and with how 2023 went and my 2 failed situationships, I had written off dating...until I met L.

The funny thing is L and I met one year ago at a meetup event. It was at the end of the night and our exchange was very brief. At the time, I was actually interested in him, so I had asked for his IG. Nothing more happened because a few days later, I met situationship B, which kicked off a chain of events. Long story short, L and I reconnected on Hinge in Nov 2023. Things have been sweet and amazing since then 🙂

I guess this shows the invisible string theory is real. By the way, this post is not sponsored by Meetup or Hinge haha, but it seems like good things can happen 😉

February musings:

  • Watched Murder Trial Tonight 2. It was an interesting theatre show where the audience acted as jury members. L and I, along with the minority of the audience, got the verdict right!
  • For CNY, a group of friends and I had dinner together in Chinatown and went to the BCS drinks event later. It was Varunya's first time going to a meetup and she seemed to enjoy it.
  • L and I loved watching Chungking Express at the Prince Charles cinema. It's so funny and the quotes are golden. A whimsical rom-com, yet so beautifully sad at the same time. It's one of my favourite films.
  • Went to a boxing class on Valentine's Day. L was good at it, but I struggled to coordinate my hands and legs haha. My arms were so sore afterwards. I don't think I'll be doing it again...
  • Celebrated Valentine's Day with L. He created a cute animated website asking "Will you be my Valentine". I was never going to say no haha. On the day, L cooked a nice steak meal and I made matcha lava cake for dessert.
  • Kelly and I watched the 'Naked Show' by Isabella Leung. It was an interesting show, which mixes comedy, life drawing, and storytelling.
  • With the ClassPass free trial, I tried out yoga and Zumba. As much as I enjoyed Zumba, I think I prefer my F45 routine.
  • Crystal and I had a hearty hotpot meal and girls' chat at home.
  • L and I, along with Wendy and CH, visited Maria and Alex's new home. Maria made us homemade pizza. It was lovely hanging out.
  • Refik Anadol: Echoes of the Earth: Living Archive at Serpentine Gallery. What a mesmerising exhibition, combining digital art and nature.
  • Two work socials this month, a squid game VR experience at the start and a mini golf at the end of the month.
Tanakatsu for pre-theatre dinner
Had a voucher for Mildreds, so decided to go there for lunch one day. This was the Korean Fried Chick'N Burger
If I go Mildreds again, I would be happy just having desserts there, it was pretty good
Super satisfying Korean Hotpot meal at Assa
Steak and rice best combo
