Jan 2024: This chapter feels right
Last year was a challenging year, and my mind was constantly preoccupied with anxiety, worries and other shit. While healing is a process, I definitely feel more content, peaceful and resilient with where I am now.
Taking photos and blogging have always been a way for me to document the moments in everyday life, express myself and reflect. I was fairly absent from blogging last year because I didn't want to face the bad, which meant I also overlooked the good. This year, I want to be more mindful and blog more, whether it's good or bad.
This post is a little late and messy, but it's better to be late than never 😛 Here's a summary of January.
January musings:
- L officially asked me to be his girlfriend and it was so sweet! After two heartbreaking situationships and a string of bad luck with guys, I had honestly given up on dating. But meeting L has changed that thought. It's funny and reassuring to see the difference between the right and the wrong guy. With situationship B, I literally asked him the "what are we" question (twice!!), whereas L really put in the effort towards building something serious with me and didn't shy away at all.
- I watched "The Boy and The Heron" with L at the cinema. I enjoyed the movie, but I accidentally fell asleep. I think I need to re-watch it to properly understand the message.
- A group of friends and I took advantage of the 50% off deal at the HaiDiLao Bayswater branch during New Year. It was cheap and good!
- The perks of living in Canary Wharf mean I can visit the Winter Lights easily. I saw it twice, once with my flatmate and another time with L. I preferred last year's overall, but I loved the main light attraction this year.
- I tried making porcelain pottery for the first time in a BCS event. I'm not particularly creative, but I found it pretty fun. Curious to see what they will turn out like.
- I watched "Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy" at the ESEA film night at Hackney Chinese Community Centre. A coming-of-age film based on a series of tweets. Spoiler: it is NOT a happy film.
- L and I played "The Past Within". I played in the past, whilst L played in the future. It was an awesome co-op puzzle game!
